2022 National Mojito Day Watermelon Mojito Recipe
Equipment:
- muddler
- Boston cocktail shaker
- strainer
- highball glass
Ingredients for one serving:
- 2 one inch cubes of watermelon
- 1/2 ounce watermelon vodka
- 1 1/2 teaspoon of demerara sugar
- 2 ounces of Bacardi or other white rum
- 1/2 ounce of lime juice
- 10 mint leaves
- sparkling water
- ice for the shaker & ice for the highball glass
- straw, one sprig of mint, and a triangle-cut watermelon for garnish
Watermelon Mojito Step By Step
- In a smaller of the two mixing containers (note: Boston shaker) muddle the watermelon cubes with watermelon vodka and the demerara sugar.
- Add the white rum, lime juice, mint leaves, and about one and a half cup of ice.
- Grab the other mixing container, and roll the drink about six times from one container to the other. Important – do not shake the cocktail! By shaking, the mint leaves release a bitter flavor. Rolling the drink is crucial for avoiding the bitterness as it’s gentle to the mint leaves.
- Fill the highball glass with ice. Strain the mojito into the glass, and top with sparkling water.
- Don’t forget the straw and the garnish!
