Thanks to social media – mainly Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest, we can spot photographs of people enjoying the lake. There’s nothing wrong with that unless they put themselves and others in danger. To snap captivating lake pictures, people often violate safety rules. Below we describe things you shouldn’t do on the boat and other watercraft.
Lake pictures to die for
All of the pictures we show you in this post represent serious safety hazards. Pinterest is a rich source of such examples.
Drinking and driving
Affected balance, blurred vision, impaired judgment, and slow reaction time. Combine it with the sun, heat, or wind, and you have a recipe for disaster. Drinking and driving a vehicle of any kind is very dangerous, and the same applies to operating a watercraft. Boating under influence (BUI) increases the chance of fatal consequences by 34%! As a passenger, in most states, you can drink unless you plan to enjoy some water activities. There are stiff penalties for performing water sports like tubing, water skiing, etc. while under influence. Note that waterways are public spaces. Life jack… – Who?
Oh, what a cool shot! Although it happened on the sea, it serves as a good example for lake pictures too. First things first, none of the girls on the boat wears a PFD (AKA life jacket), which is required for that type of vessel.
The girl driving the boat has no control over the vessel, she wouldn’t be able to react in time to a possible problem, and slow down. The other girls would fly through the aft (back) of the vessel if she breaks the boat down. Do you see what we see? Yep, injuries. Considering this combo, the third mishap is pulling a tube on top of it, where you need to pay attention to where your rope is.
Lake pictures before death
Years ago, Sea-Doo introduced a Spark Trixx on the market – a light jet ski suitable for tricks. Lady, you can have fun with Trixx trying new stuff, if you know what you are doing. If not – it can go bad. People got bored with relatively safe tricks and started to invent their own. That’s a part of the reason why most of the rental places don’t touch the Trixx (insurance and liability in combination with renters’ lack of skills, judgment, and self-preservation instinct are the other reasons).
The example in this section is so bad. The woman in the picture has no business sitting where she’s sitting. That’s the same as riding on the bow of a boat or the handlebars of a bicycle. If he needed to slow down, she would fall right underneath the jet ski, which would most likely kill her. And again, no life jacket! We can’t even imagine how she managed not to get hurt getting the jet ski back into its horizontal position.
